The Electromagnetic Power of a Heartfelt Wish

Can our desire for peace do more than live inside us—can it actually shape the world around us? History suggests yes. In 1974, something extraordinary happened. The largest human consciousness experiment in history quietly unfolded in Fairfield, Iowa. For three weeks, 7,000 advanced meditators gathered to focus on one wish: peace.

This wasn’t a retreat or a philosophy class. It was a scientific experiment. Leading physicists and meditation experts, including quantum physicist Dr. John Hagelin, wanted to test a radical theory known as the Maharishi Effect. The idea was simple but profound: if even 1% of a population meditates together in a coherent state, crime and conflict in that population should measurably decline.

And the results? They did. During those 21 days, global crime and violence dropped by 16%. Suicide rates decreased. Fewer people entered hospitals. Ongoing wars eased. Nothing in government shifted. No new laws were passed. No leaders were replaced. The only change was 7,000 people aligning their hearts and minds with a vision of peace.

Critics called it coincidence. So the researchers tried again. In 1988, Washington, D.C., 4,000 people meditated together. By the third week, homicides fell by 15%. Emergency calls declined. Even weather patterns calmed. The FBI took notice.

How could this be? Science offers a clue. Meditation shifts the brain into alpha and theta states—calm, coherent rhythms. But it’s the heart that may be the true transmitter. The human heart generates an electromagnetic field 5,000 times stronger than the brain’s, radiating out 8 to 12 feet beyond your body. When thousands of hearts beat in unison with peace or love, the field multiplies exponentially. As Dr. Hagelin put it:

“We are not isolated islands of consciousness. We are connected like drops in the same ocean.”

Ancient texts whispered this truth for centuries. Now modern science is catching up: consciousness doesn’t stop at your skull. It broadcasts.

And here’s why this matters to you. You don’t need 7,000 people in Iowa to prove your wish has power. You don’t need to be a monk or a physicist. You need only your heart, your willingness to imagine, and your courage to act.

Because wishing isn’t trivial—it’s essential. In moments of despair or helplessness, a wish is not naïve. It’s the spark that activates your heart and begins to ripple outward into the world. I’ve seen it again and again: when someone connects to their wish, their entire energy shifts. Their field expands. Their lives begin to change.

That’s why I am re-inventing the way we wish—by guiding people to not only visualize their wishes but also follow up with Wishwork. Just as those meditators gathered for 21 days to shift global patterns, you can spend 21 days tending to your own heart’s desire. Each day, you take one small step—an action, a reflection, a practice—that aligns you with your wish and strengthens your ability to see possibilities and synchronicities around you.

Peace in the world begins with peace inside you. Change in your life begins with a single wish connected to your heart. And the ripple you create doesn’t stop with you—it moves into your family, your community, your world.

The science is clear. The practice is simple. The revolution begins inside.
