I’m often asked if it’s valuable to use cue cards or scripts to film video content. I strive to share at least three great points in a video or simple presentation – but scripting is a bit much. Scripting can deter self-expression, and you really want to look and sound natural when you put yourself on camera.

I do, however, have a trick for filming from your phone and staying on topic – Go Tiny!

A tiny “cue card” will cue you to speak about what you’ve planned to share, but I know just the place to put it for smart filming from your smartphone, iPhone, Android, or GoPro. I sneak it in without distracting my gaze.

You want your audience to feel like you’re right there, in the room with them.

So you can’t be watching yourself or looking off at the make-shift teleprompter. Click play and watch how my eye contact with the lens stays with you – even when I’m checking my notes!
